    statistical difference between buying a ticket and not buying a ticket. If you don't buy a ticket, your chance of winning is 0 percent. But if you buy a ticket, you go from 0 to 0.000000071 percent (1 in 170,000,000).

    To paraphrase an Oregon professor, the lottery is a tax on the mathematically challenged.

    (Full disclosure, I bought a single ticket for this Powerball lottery. For 360 billion I will pay the $2 tax)
