  •  That is an incredible photo. How lucky (8+ / 0-)

you were to find them like that! Huge points to Mrs and LB. Please tell them how much we enjoyed the photo. Those patterns and colors are just beautiful. Worth the run back for the camera.

Suckers. I battle fruit tree suckers. One of my cherry trees has decided it likes the regular watering of the raspberry bed, and I'm constantly cutting the suckers off that pop up there. And the plum tree, leaning and clinging to its place too close to the house, sends roots a long ways in several directions, like 30 feet, even under a concrete walkway. It's an endless job keeping its suckers from taking over. I'll be interested to hear if your mimosa gives up eventually now the tree itself is gone.

    •  Thanks OD, and I'll tell them. (6+ / 0-)

I have a feeling I'm going to be a long time eradicating the mimosa's. We've been fighting the new ones every year for several years now, cut them off as low as we can cut them and they just shoot right up the following year, heck, the same summer actually, and they seem to grow faster and bigger than the previous year. They probably have  a well developed root system by now.
