  •  School district wants to cut back daily PE for K-5 (7+ / 0-)

    They generally acknowledged that dailyt PE is good for kids, but the reason was:

    ....central office administrators say the move to three days would simplify school schedules and make it easier to calculate data for teacher evaluations.
    In a nutshell, this is what is wrong with public schools today.  Yeah, a program may be good for students, but goshdarnit, testing and data and administrator convenience come first.    And when cutting back on PE results in new problems and learning ineffectiveness, administrators will wonder why the teachers are messing up.

    I liken the public school system as a cattle processing system--push the kids through with as much economic efficiency as possible and forgo learning quality.  Do cattle kids have differentiating needs?  No, they are a monolithic group.
