    Instead of not primarily engaged in political activity, as the statute requires in order to qualify for the exemption, it has become in practice, not exclusively engaged in political activity.  It will be even more so now.

    Keep the TVA public.

      exclusively engaged in social welfare. The IRS unilaterally changed that to primarily, and in the face of Citizens United, abandoned even that pretense. There are lawsuits and political actions aimed at fixing that, but it's a hard slog, particularly in the face of so much ignorance and apathy as well as malfeasance in office.

      I plan to diary about the history and prospects of this issue as soon as I catch up on the other diaries I have been writing. I took on Global Warming today, and I have started a series on Jason Richwine and general Republican racism.
