    quite wide. The Dulles' stood out for me because I had grown up with such a contrasting opinion and because they really took the American Empire Project to new levels.

    The other person who stood out for me because my father in law was a bomber navigator in Europe, was Curtis LeMay. Ken's plane was shot down and he spent the last 18 months as a POW. Guards at the camp were Luftwaffe, who had enough respect for their American counterparts they treated them as well as they could, not allowing themselves much more food and clothing than the POWs had.

    When the allies started approaching, they set up watching for another group. When the SS arrived to kill the POWs, the Germans killed them and stayed with the POWs until the allied troops arrived to secure their rescue.

    Ken agreed to be transferred to the new USAF and had been a wing commander for decades when he retired. He would be horrified by what has changed since he left in the early 70's.
