  •  I saw the Pixies at the Varsity back at the day. (2+ / 0-)

In the 70s, the old Sugar Bowl Stadium had a concert consisting of J Geils Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and ZZ Top.

It was hot as hell, the concert started late. First, J Geils played finally. Then there was another long delay until we learned that Skynrd was a no show. The crowd went nuts. Started throwing stuff everywhere. Did I say it was hot?

It got bad so the NO riot police entered the stadium. With their blue riot helmets they looked like a football team entering the stadium. They formed a perimeter in the center of the field. Every now and then, a cop would lose it and take off in the crowd chasing someone.

Believe it or not, they left and ZZ Top finally played. Crazy time.

What is so unnerving about the candidacy of Sarah Palin is the degree to which she represents—and her supporters celebrate—the joyful marriage of confidence and ignorance. SAM HARRIS
