was astounding. Are they giving the delivering Mom moonshine, or are the Dad's not allowed in the delivery room - like it was until the 70's?

    Holy F*cking Stupid....

Time is our observation of events happening in the world around us; it can never be wasted, but is often mis-spent.

    •  Seriously. I'm thinking the women of Alabama (7+ / 0-)

just might start to believe that there really is a war on women.

Especially centimeters 7-10, all in the same place, and I believe that the problems with the "no epidurals-EVER" rule will be made abundantly clear to enough males the serious problems with such a hard and fast position.

I just hope they have enough trauma doctors around when that happens............

I know if I were a relevant health care provider, I'd be falling all over myself to violate that idiotic law in hopes of being charged . . .  (and get the whole thing overturned in court, hopefully).

They would probably just pull your medical license and destroy your career.  I have seen it done

you would be counting on Alabama courts to overturn this law which, according to the article, they have already ruled on:

Despite a well-done court challenge, Alabama’s Supreme Court couldn’t resist the chance to get back-door personhood. In January, they decided the word “child” included fetuses and went a giant step further by adding non-viable fetuses, embryos, and fertilized eggs. Talk about judicial activism! We are informed that “outside the right to abortion created in Roe and upheld in Planned Parenthood, the viability distinction has no place in the laws of this State.”

You really ought to read the ruling to get the full contortionist flavor. I’ll wait while you go wash your mouth out. If you didn’t make it to the end, here it is: “We conclude that Court of Criminal Appeals correctly held that the plain meaning of the word “child” in the chemical-endangerment statute includes an unborn child or fetus. However, we expressly reject the Court of Criminal Appeals’ reasoning insofar as it limits the application of the chemical-endangerment statute to a viable unborn child.”

Apparently, if you need an appendectomy while pregnant in Alabama, according to this law you are prohibited from being administered anesthetic for the surgery.

hit 'em in the head with a club.  Works just as well with dating as you drag your new wife home (this is snark, please note)

    •  Dark Ages (0+ / 0-)

I'm guessing the Dark Ages never ended.  Today we have the IRS Inquisition in the House--science denial throughout government (global climate change)-- and now a threat to pregnant moms.  Evolution is but one "theory."
