  •  That is the biggest justification for doing it: (13+ / 0-)

There is every indication that the Repubs, in accord with their poisonous power grab, will change that rule the very second they have 50 votes or more.

They sure as HELL are not going to let the dems obstruct the "business of the -peop- corporate America.

when they have the Senate AND the White House.  There's not much sense in playing hardball to get bills through the Senate if they're just going to be vetoed.

      •  Ding ding ding! We have a winner. (0+ / 0-)

Let's face it, if they knew they couldn't get most of their agenda rammed down our throats despite not having their precious 60 votes in the Senate--because they knew enough Dems would sign off on anything serious--from 2002-6, they would have blown up the filibuster long, long ago.
They will blow it up when it benefits them the most, and when they need to do so. Now, or anytime they don't control (regardless of how many Senators/Congresspeople have "R"s next to their names) all three sectors necessary to make laws? Hardly.
