      I don't think, since the rise of the Internet, that they have been bombed about this as much as they have from the public. This could make a difference if they feel a lot of pressure to change the rules. As mentioned in comments above, the GOP is much more likely than ever to change the rules, especially with a 2014 win as they become ever more an extremist tea party run nut house. It is probably better to make a pre-emptive move now and hope that the change isn't too late and that the public appreciates it and lets us hold the Senate instead.

      Plus, isn't 2016 supposed to be a cycle with fewer Democratic Senate seats up for grabs than usual? If so, perhaps we can keep it for another 4 years and hopefully use it well.
