    really surprised if the Presdent wants to keep the filibuster.  Also, it prevents passage of legislation that would form part of his legacy.

      Squander it's slim majorities, squander its mandate, squander its power, squander an opportunity to reform the filibuster this last new term, I'd have to say they are willing to live with the current results that not reforming it has brought them.

      IMHO, Obama could have twisted The holdout Senate Dem arms if he truly felt the need for and insisted upon the filibuster reform that was proposed by Merkley et al. We have seen him do that arm twisting to get Dems on board with the sequester. We have heard him chastise the professional left IMHO, he knows how to play hardball with Democrats when he really wants something badly. I just believe he and the current leadership can live with it. They may not be completely happy all the time, but feel they analyzed and weighed the cost benefits of it and decided this was not a priority and could accept the results.
