It's so bitterly ironic that General Eric Shinseki the Army Chief of Staff at the time warned Rumsfeld et al that it would take a force of hundreds of thousands to keep order after the invasion happened. Rumsfeld fired him for his honest appraisal. Now General Shinseki is in charge of the VA trying to modernize an abused and neglected system even as the tens of thousands of mentally and physically destroyed young men and woman come flooding if after the carnage of Iraq. Putting Humpty Dumpty and his soldiers back together again after warning against the invasion to begin with even as Republicans blame him for the VA's shortfalls and attempt to cut the budget even more.
