    •  He wants not to practice law but to have (11+ / 0-)

that political science and law background to run for office and seriously...I know you don't need it but he wants that and I would never ever have guessed in a million years that was his goal.   He is a sports fool and great at history and drumming but never did I ever know he had a desire for politics.  I hope he is on our side.   He is no teapartier.
He is more independent.  He voted Obama but sat out 2012.   He is a conservative but not religious at all.  He just has a lot of smarts and up until recently little ambition other than carpet cleaning, watching Falcons and drumming.

      •  Do you now about the CLEP program? (8+ / 0-)

It's like a HS GED but for the first year of college. It's a series of multi-choice exams that aren't that difficult.

Most colleges accept them and you save a year's worth of tuition, books and time.

        Check out CLEP Exams.

Congratulations to your entire family, Vetwife!

            the education center had.

Veterans are eligible for college credits in PhysEd (usually 2 years), Management, Bus Leadership, etc  added to the skills acquired in job training and on the job experience.

If you've balanced a checkbook or operated a cash register you could pass Acct101.

I enrolled in a college in Honolulu while still in service with only a couple classes needed for a BA in Business after taking all the tests that were available at the time.

There's one point not addressed in the website above that could really make the difference for a student wanting to be accepted at a higher level for study. The class credits are awarded for each class; i.e English, Math, Basic Sciences, etc. But there is no grade recorded.

The new student need only take a few safe classes and pay attention in class and get good grades. The first grades applied to the transcript will determine the GPA. Take one class and get an A and you have a 4.0 GPA.

Maybe someone we know will hit the lottery this weekend!

It's not just for vets. My comment tended to lean that way because of my personal experience with CLEP.
