  •  I disagree, you can draw a 13-3-Stivers map (0+ / 0-)

whereby he retains a Columbus based swing district and Austria keeps the R+5 one. To do this you have to be willing to drop Boehner down to R+8-10, have Jordan, Tiberi, and Wenstrup take a small hit. This obviously won't even leave you with a Romney district for Stivers, but he nearly won a D+1 in 2008 and won with ease in 2010 so I think he'd hold down a similar district but maybe not. There's really no reason Boehner needs an R+15 as opposed to R+10, or that Tiberi needs an R+8 as opposed to R+4 (he held a D+1 with ease last decade), and that gets you half way there.

Now of course all the incumbents would complain and Stivers has friends in the legislature, so they threw Austria under the bus, but I'd imagine a discussion of a map like that at least occurred with them. Same with 8-1 in Indiana and Tennessee.
