  •  that's actually a democratic demographic (6+ / 0-)

college degrees and Professional incomes tend to
    skew dem.

the dirty secret of the GOP is their base is HS dropouts,
and billionaires.  Not much in between.

    •  drop outs who work out of their cars (8+ / 0-)

We get a lot of contractor types who seem to listen to Rush all week long in their cars.

Most of us don't listen to the radio for 3 hours at a time.  Some of us have, you know, productive lives to lead.

commute to get to jobs in the city.

AM goes long haul into rural america.

I've been in big parts of this country where the FM stations all die and you are having to listen to AM radio.

winding river valleys here and the only thing on the radio at all was Rush in the morning & Dr. Laura in the afternoon. And everything was different back then anyway, and the demographic pointed out by entlord above

Rush has always claimed to have a demographic of white males with a college education or better, an income of $100K or better, upper level managerial or professional, and 25-45 age
was all that- in 1994. I believe that's when we referred to smaller groups splintered off of the 1990s megachurches as "Cell Churches" until the terrorists started acting in cells and the comparison became embarrassing.
Now those same people are 45-65 and how did it all turn out? Some of these people I knew, and back then they were just nice new parents, looking for a moral place to bring up their children. Others turned into right wing born-again crazies. Some are secular and sane now. But we all spent the 90s down in that valley.
