Why No Dem Freak-Out Over the Doctored Emails?

[Reader Opinion:] Obama has chosen not to push back hard against doctored Benghazi leaks that even the tame broadcast media objected to. So no Democrats in Washington is either.
The Dems need to stand apart from Obama's cowardice.

    •  really? the left's ignorance and cowardice (4+ / 0-)

for continuously allowing the the right to get a free speech free ride on 1200 coordinated radio stations is why we're even talking about benghazi.

obama doesn't have the bully pulpit when he's not standing on it and if he stands on it too long or too often the think tanks tell the carnival barkers to call him desperate and messianic and then some fucking idiots on the sunday talk shows rechew those same prechewed memes with saliva running down their chins.

      •  The Fairness Doctrine was revoked (8+ / 0-)

        ...in 1987 under Reagan.

At the same time, public owned airwaves were allowed to be monopolized by corporations. Anti-trust was a thing of the past. Same with banks, actually.

It is constitutional in the US to broadcast lies and misinformation to the public about issues that will affect their lives in upcoming votes.

Not so in the other developed nations.

barker on every corner and stump in the country as they yell for more deregulation and intimidate and disinform.

just because it's constitutional doesn't mean it's acceptable in a civil society trying to solve problems like global warming. or any major problem. that's stupid. if the guy on the corner screams you father's a traitor and thief and your sister's a whore all day and you just walk by with your ipod in your ear pretty soon your neighbors might start believing him.

when i say a free speech free ride - that's what they're getting. if the left's going to pretend though ignorance that the think tank-coordinated RW radio monopoly is some expression of free speech by individual radio entertainers selling hair tonic and penile enhancement (who also just happen to be lying us into war) and therefore should be left alone they'd be idiots. and that's what the left has been for 25 years while corporate america has destroyed american democracy.

            ...nor the Second.

The US Constitution is primitive by global standards. The oldest in the world, in fact, by a century or more. Certainly not suited for modern life -- it is designed for colonists and slaves. It enables asset-stripping and private ownership of the public commonwealth.

That being said, it does have one positive aspect:

It makes it easy to predict the future of America.

2nd is easily interpreted as being limited (well regulated militia), etc.

i think the problems we've got with 1 and 2 now are very specific, and the the talk radio monopoly problem with 1 is a big part of the misinterpretation and lack of limits re 2.

..manure in a deeply mudded up paddock? Well it'll take your boot right of unless you catch youself quick enough.

Even then you have to pull your foot out real slowly, or take your foot out of the boot stand in the shit with one foot in a sock whlie pulling the stuck boot out.

It's a mess that with any experience you watch out for.
So let the republicans keep stepping in their own shit.
They need the experience, and Dems have better things to do.
      That's my take on it.
