    These areas are relatively more liberal than the US but for how long?

      Prime Minister Stephen Harper is absolutely scary in his outrageously successful fascist maneuvers.  The KXL Pipeline, censoring scientists, firing members of governing boards who refused to toe his line and replacing them with sycophants, etc., etc., ad nauseam.  Harper is the epitome of someone who ran as a centrist and, as soon as he got power, took off his mask and revealed himself as a rightwinger of the worst degree.

      He's been trying to force Faux News on to Canada's airwaves for several years and trying to gut Canada's "Truth in Broadcasting" laws (these two things go together, of course).  His latest atrocity is trying to force through legislation that would require the CBC (Canada's public television) to carry Fox and raise everyone's cable bill by $4.00/month to pay for it.

      Harper is Canada's George W. Bush but smarter, craftier, evil to an extent that I don't think Canada has ever seen before.
