  •  Easier than I thought (6+ / 0-)

Fifteen minutes unseated the shrub and another ten had it tethered back into place properly situated.

I always forget that I have soil you can dig with your fingertips (the hallmark of years of organic feeding).

I got that done, the gardens repaired, a light fixed, some mulch down, and that's pretty much it for me today.

    Shower and nap time!

    •  Oh, and the Kousa Dogwood (6+ / 0-)

is actually going to bloom this year for the first time at age six!

Which sounds awful, except I start all trees from whips (first-year saplings) since they're so cheap and you get to train the tree as it matures into exactly the shape you want.  The eight year old Cleveland pear, started from a whip, is now thirty feet tall.

      •  I am growing an oak tree from an acorn I found (4+ / 0-)

on the mountainside I live on. Almost threw it away it took so long to germinate, but I noticed some roots coming out finally after Months and then transplanted it outdoors. I have babied it for years till it could fend for itself and now it is close to 30 feet tall. That is oddly one of the more satisfying accomplishments I bother to remember. I love making good organic composted soil faster than it gets washed away from the hillside too; waste not, want not I say. Everything compostable shall not be sent to the landfill!
