  •  I feel like it hasn't been enough (6+ / 0-)

of a struggle to merit taking a bow.  It was simply time to stop, and I did, with a shockingly low price to pay.  I am amazed to find myself here now.  I cannot tell you how I made this happen;  there was no resolution,  no goal.  It was more than a week before I even admitted to myself that I had stopped,  and longer than that before I shared it with anyone.

I could have had a smoke anywhere in there without it being a "failure", because I hadn't set myself up to be meeting any sort of goal. So there was no pressure to achieve.

I certainly don't intend any of this as "advice" for anyone else in this struggle; it's just how it was for me.

    Thank you.

    •  Every rejection of (6+ / 0-)

cigs is brilliant.  Sure, the assholes in the industry are already bought into the other industries to stop smoking - but eff them.  You need to focus on your endgame -- to eff them completely every day, week, month, year.  It adds up one GUSerino/a at a time.
      Blessings, claude.

...that this is the secret to making a quit stick:

I could have had a smoke anywhere in there without it being a "failure", because I hadn't set myself up to be meeting any sort of goal. So there was no pressure to achieve.
