    There still exists a type of building in Bordeaux known as an Echoppe. I am not sure how they define it, but it is often in the real estate ads.  Also in certain areas I believe it is used for a basic cafe/restaurant.

    Also, it is still quite common in English English to use the expression "to shop someone", meaning to grass them up.
