  •  That would be hard for me, too. (6+ / 0-)

But harder than watching it from a distance with so few options to voice an objection?

    I don't know.

Buckeye Nut Schell gave me a link to a diary about the Treasury Department going after Bitcoin. They claim it is to crack down on "money laundering." Guess it's because they can't go after the big fish at the TBTFBs?

    Nope:

...the bloodhound of the Federal Reserve has now turned its attention toward BitCoin, and will not stop until it crashes both its value to end-users, and its utility, in yet another attempt to force the USD, and other fiat, upon global consumers as the only forms of allowed legal tender.

That signals to me that the bloodhounds of plutocracy will go after any mechanism to reject and circumvent the mainstream financial sector... Who's to say they wouldn't go after things like time banking, barter, even share networks if they became a robust part of the counter-economy? Who's to say they wouldn't make it even tougher for cooperatives?

I admit that these are the things I've been kinda putting my faith and hope in, given that there's seems to be no public taste for rising up, as Hedges implores us to do. Pulling our participation from the organs the oligarchs leech off of, putting it into institutions and communities they can't charge rent.

    Now, I wonder.

Maybe I'm paranoid. But my paranoia's been right since 2000. It's been on a bit of a roll.

Re: "...will the American people notice, or are they dumb as sticks to quote the social historian Morris Berman who blames the culture for our problems." - don midwest. don, I'd like you to meet Woody and Twiggy. ☮ ♥ ☺
