  •  they don't sound like Americans to me (3+ / 0-)

Allright...I intended that to be intentionally provocative...but the fact remains...

Were they Americans?  Where were they living?  Who were they aligned with?  Where were their loyalties?

    What is an American?

Big questions.  And the easy answer...anyone who is born here...doesn't cut the mustard.

"The Weatherdude prevails". Jeff Bridges is pretty cool, too.

    •  the distinction between american or not... (5+ / 0-)

is not my personal biggest beef.  there are other distinctions that are somewhat more significant since it seems to me that all human beings deserve a certain level of justice.

i'm pretty much dead set against assassinating people who are not imminent threats, who could be captured and for whom there has been no due process.  actually, i'm pretty much dead set against assassinating people, period.

the way that terms like "battlefield," "imminent threat," and all of the various euphemisms for innocent civilians who are considered acceptably expendable have been bandied about irritates the hell out of me.

      i'm part of the 99% - america's largest minority
