  •  I was shocked! Floored! Kind of excited about (6+ / 0-)

seeing how this story plays out...

Will it be a blow by blow reenactment of the Time War? Will it be dark? Will it be redeeming and emotional?

I'd bet on dark, and I think I'd like to see dark as well. We all know how bad the Doctor had to be at some points in time...

and redeeming, and emotional... and who knows what what else!

Is 11 really 12?  Do River's regens add to the number?  Who knows????

And we sail and we sail and we never see land, just the rum in the bottle and a pipe in my hand...

      •  we're pretty sure the current Dr has an unknown (1+ / 0-)

number of additional re-gens, because River did give him ALL the re-gens she had left when she saved him in Hitler-Germany, way back when (!) (and she had used only about 3 of the classical 12, that we know of (little girl in the alley (1)said she'd been through regen once before, who apparently (2) went directly from the alley to Amy's teenage black best friend, who (3) turned into River in Hitler-Germany)

Ah. My 1963 expert says that The Master was once granted an additional 12 regens by the Time Lords; so that's a documented way to get around the classical 12 limit... if there were any Time Lords left... if he hasn't already gotten a bunch of extensions during the Time Wars, or something...

We were noticing tonite (when we watched "name") that the current composer is fabulous. The music in these new shows (we started watching in 1963!) is VERY good. We also watched a TBaker ep. afterwards and the background "music" in that was indeed VERY primitive, relative to the new series'.

and it's amazing how much it has improved on so many levels - and yet the TARDIS landing/falling always looks SO cheesy. LOL

I don't know if this is going to be Time Wars, or bringing back around the Valeyard... which has been reworked a couple times in canon already... or even some kind of pre choosing the name Doctor regeneration.  We know this is the 11th Doctor - but we don't know how many regens "Please" has had all together - we just assume it's 11 because hey, Doctor.  This is a version of him specifically NOT the Doctor - what he did was not in the name of the Doctor.  So in his original Gallifreyan name, as the Valeyard - something else - we just don't know.

Moffat has done an amazing job with bringing things together and using old enemies like the Great Intelligence... so it might be The Valeyard.  But it might not be too.
