    Rather, it was deeply confused.

    Anybody arguing for a supernatural explanation for consciousness is probably not going to get along well with atheists, who are by and large atheist because they are scientific materialists.

    You get your odd atheist who isn't a SM, but they're pretty rare.

      Take, for example, a culture where the people do not believe in supernatural beings, in life after death, or that the world requires any sort of creator.

      Atheism and SM, the two are mutually consistent, but the one does not necessarily require the other. That's just my thinking. As a scientist.

        ...supernatural beings and a Creater might be viewed as inconsistent with atheism, belief in life after death could arguably viewed as consistent with atheism, I suppose.
