  •  It is taking far too long for (4+ / 0-)

people to rise up against this obscenity.
There should be no way that one person wins anything over $10m. Give people who are buying hope a better chance to win something.
This is exploitation happening right in front of our eyes.
Why couldn't there have been 100 winners last night?

...is an obscene amount of money. In those cases where I have played on amounts above that, the plan is to set up a  trust to distribute it amongst family members.

I also discipline myself to only buy tickets for the larger games when the jackpot is a multiple of 13, as the annuity they pay out with is a 26-year one. Someone suggested that I should take a lump sum payout, but the point has so far been moot: I never have won. Should I play and win, we'll see from there...

1 in 100 million? Still effectively zero.

    •  I don't see why winning a $10 million lottery (0+ / 0-)

is any more obscene than "earning" $10 million as a corporate boss, or actor, or professional athlete, or receiving it through inheritance, or doing whatever it is that Mitt Romney does.

I do believe that all of the above should pay substantially more income taxes than they do now.  That may not amount to "rising up against the obscenity", but at least it would be a step in the right direction.
