Clearly there IS a problem when the IRS uses a biased measure to single only one group for heightened scrutiny. Which is why the commissioner was fired and the IG report admitted their culpability.

And how is being singled out for extra work, delayed (for up to 2 years) a "favor"?

    •  your "facts" are simply wrong (0+ / 0-)

it's not true that only one group was singled out for further scrutiny.
it's the IRS's job, and particularly the tax-exemption division in Cincinnati,  to scrutinize applications seeking  taxpayer dollars thru tax exempt status, and to scrutinize applicants who were not exclusively social welfare organizations in more detail.  IT'S THEIR JOB!
it's entirely possible that extensive delays were caused by late, incomplete and inaccurate responses from the applicants.
The IG report and the other report both said that the politically incorrect selection shortcut was not political.
The screeners took a politically incorrect shortcut to correctly identify groups that required more scrutiny.  Despite the witch hunt and Stalinist show trials in Congress, that's all there is to it.
If they weren't given fast track favoritism, they might still be waiting in line.
