and while you're at it demonstrate the "suppression" that resulted from acquiring a few weeks worth of phone records.

I am pointing out the Plame leak case as a parallel. In that case the government had a FULL BLOWN investigation into potential treasonous acts. Reporters WENT TO JAIL. Nobody was claiming that the First Amendment was UNDER ATTACK. The AP records were accessed as part of a preliminary investigation. There's just no there there, if you are attempting to imply that this case proves that the administration is suppressing free speech. It's an especially stupid tactic when the Bradley Manning case is sitting there like low hanging fruit, and the administration has been absolutely TERRIBLE in it's handling of that mess. The AP flap is a big fat nothing.

Wow. What universe do you live in? (17+ / 0-)

      This statement is false.

[You:]Judith Miller and others spent time in jail for protecting leakers, and nobody imagined the First Amendment was in danger.
The whole damned Iraq war was based on deception, lies and a media complicity. The very reason this site got popular was anger over the media's inability to get to the truth on Iraq.

I have nothing but contempt for people who willingly give up their rights.

[You:]All the overwrought invective thrown around about this event is tiresome.
Several others nailed it, too, but for me FOoW's post is a standout, as is his final statement:
I have nothing but contempt for people who willingly give up their rights.
I stand by that statement 100%, too.

A slower bleed-out is not a sustainable value.

You may as well cite passages from Jabberwocky. This is embarrassing for you, seriously. You should just stop. Oh and just so we're clear, your hostility, anger, contempt and idiocy won't do a thing to prevent me chiming in with my opinion whenever and howsoever it pleases me to do so. But thanks for the unsolicited feedback nevertheless.

Judith Miller did not go to jail for protecting a leaker, she went to jail for protecting her co-conspirator in a government plot to gin up the Iraq War.

Your statement was not only false, it was made in the service of minimizing the government's ongoing attempt to chill investigation and reporting.  Telling the truth about this administration is a crime, at least for those who haven't shattered their moral compass as a demonstration of loyalty.

Is that clear enough?  There was not First Amendment outcry because there was no First Amendment issue.

You really are fucking shameless, not a surprise given the enormity of what you're defending.

A slower bleed-out is not a sustainable value.
