  •  my EDC has an Altoids gum tin in it (3+ / 0-)

with 3 days' worth of the daily meds, which I have rattle-proofed with some paper towels because at my age I don't need extra noise.

I've got a couple of those little tube-style pill bottles with acetaminophen, naproxen and ibuprofen, too.

Cell phone, chapstick, a little 1-LED "blacktical tactical" flashlight, a 99-cent hand-sanitizer bottle, my billfold and a pocket knife (Gibbs rule!) in the other pockets. Keys on belt-loop (yeah, I'm redneck like that. So? they jingle like spurs and don't hang up in my levis hems) on a little carabiner.
    Why?

Well, if I lose my damn pants pockets, I'll have bigger worries than my meds ...

Surprising how much we would miss things like lip balm. Insect repellent and sunscreen are now available as convenient towelettes that are portable and won't leak fluids.

the world ends in all five flavors, and easy to grab in a hurry.

Purses ... sigh. No. Not so much. Even if they don't get forgotten somewhere, there's this ... gravity-mixed hodgepodge in the bottom, and how long do you want to have to rummage for your chap stick?
Or, happen you need to carry one, your epi pen?

If you go to www.instructables.com you can see how to set up a pocket-sized survival kit as useful as can be. There's an old saying in the military: the best gear is the gear you've got with you. Where you're at with what you've got is all there is.

        •  Best option for me is a small fanny pack (1+ / 0-)

I can attach it around my waist or to a piece of furniture or automobile, and I can have my name and contact info written inside with a Sharpie.

Other major favorite item is a nylon vest with tons of zippered and Velcro pockets. I use this during air travel too - no messing with a purse, just put wallet, phone, chap stick, tissues, keys, pen, and glasses in their case into the pockets.

          •  yep. DO you know about (3+ / 0-)

            Doug Ritter's site?
He's a private pilot, and one of his projects is a vest he uses for flying.
It's actually an angler's vest he's customized (but my version's a Sportsman's Guide ranger vest, 'cause I hate sheepskin patches).

            Like I say ... I don't cross-dress for nothin'. :)
