    A woman gave an interview saying their below ground shelter was the best $2,000 they ever spent.

    In Florida the amount of extra money that needs to be spent to pass hurricane codes is far more than $2,000.  BUT the increase in our home building costs protects the structure itself, and therefore reduces the exposure of property insurance companies.

    A small $2,000 shelter can only protect people not property, so it would nor reduce property claims.

    If they were standard with homes out there, no one would even notice it when it was spread out over their mortgage.
