    You'll be on Medicaid to pay for the nursing home unless you've got a hellacious amount of money put away.  My mom's Alzheimer's unit care in Albany, NY costs $110,000 a year, and that isn't even one of the super-nice private places (it's a Catholic-run facility).   Even the bottom of the barrel places charge several thousand $$s per month for dementia care.  

    Iirc, most Medicaid recipients in nursing homes are women.  So poor women (although they may not have started out poor )  would be disproportionally hurt by Medicaid cuts.  

    Comfort the afflicted. Afflict the comfortable.
