  •  WTF do these morons mean by "is paid for"?!? (14+ / 0-)

Were the endless wars, massive military programs and national security state apparatus they invariably vote for "paid for"? Was all the pork that went to their states and districts? Were all the corporate subsidies, tax cuts and fat contracts they votes for "paid for"? Is ANYTHING that government does or has done been "paid for", at least in real time? Do they literally not know how things are "paid for" in government, or are they just playing the role of fiscal conservative for their gullible base and to extract concessions from Dems?

Nothing is ever "paid for" as it's being spent by government, which doesn't operate on a cash basis. No country would be economically viable if it tried to do this. This has been true since the late middle ages, jeez.

    •  Republican debt doesn't count (5+ / 0-)

That has been proven time and time again.  All Republican debt is always to "keep us safe" or to help out the "job creators".  They will always explain all of it away.

Only debt under Dem administrations is for the "lazy socialist moochers", and that just can't be allowed.

      •  They play on the fact that progressives (0+ / 0-)

tend to be logical thinkers who analyze things on a presented basis, which tends to waste and misdirect our time and effort and hide what they're really up to. They're basically professional trolls. Not basically, actually, be it to defend their thankfully dying pre-modern way of life or to advance their and their friends' interests--or merely to have fun with us, being trolls.

Whether because they're genuinely this stupid or simply pretending to be for ulterior reasons, it's foolish to engage them on their face value arguments, which is to fight them on a ground of their own choosing and on their terms. Instead of seeking or caring about their approval or cooperation, we have to simply go around them, when and where possible, and let them whine about it all they want. We can't keep taking their bait. It's how they win.
