  •  The people who go by the conservative label today (0+ / 0-)

aren't really conservative.  It's a disguise they use to hide who and what they really are. Anti-government nihilist radical wouldn't go over well so they pretend to be conservative.  Patriot is another disguise though they don't seem to be concerned about the damage they do to the country for the sake of their party.  They make a big deal of being Christians but they don't live it.  Financial experts? They crashed the economy.  The hard-working tax payers who foot the bill for the freeloading 47%?  Nope, they're the taxed enough already who probably aren't paying more than their share because they're numerous in states with the lowest income.

Nothing adds up with them because they're grifters.  They have nothing to offer.  They're just here to scam.

You don't need logic, reason, or critical thinking when you have no legitimate public policy to promote.  When you're proposals are so unappealing, except to the 1% elite, you don't want people thinking.  You want them lying and attacking.

They don't need no stinkin critical thought.  In fact, they don't need thought.  Period.   I do think the brain can become lazy when it isn't exercised and it shows sometimes.

All that said, critical thought is in short supply across the board in the US.  I don't think the educational system encourages it.  It needs to be taught.  It isn't innate.

There is no existence without doubt.

"I don't think the educational system encourages it."

I think that the educational system we have, in 95-99% of students, actively discourages it.
