  •  Wow, that's risky! (8+ / 0-)
A state lawmaker acknowledged that he is an atheist as he gave the daily House invocation Tuesday, urging legislators to look at each other, rather than bow their heads, and "celebrate our shared humanness."
Just saying, what if Dick Cheney drops by unexpectedly?

      Pre-existing humanness?

I mean, if my dogs drop by, they won't get the sharing treatment. Right?

      Same with Cheney.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

does look more like a human than your dogs do (OK, I'm just guessing about that, but let's go with it).

And some of the more naive (but real!) humans present might start wondering why he - as an apparent human - wasn't joining in the celebration of humanness - and might even start casting disparaging looks in his direction.

        Again, awkward.  Very awkward..

You're right. My dogs ACT more human-ly. They're funny, caring, and aren't inclined to swear at others (well, the beagle does. But that's a diary for another time).

But they're furry with floppy ears. And there's the matter of tails.

Are we SURE Cheney doesn't have a tail?

      Not robotness.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.

    •  In that case (0+ / 0-)

Just don't look at him! Maybe he'll go away!

Besides, acknowledging his presence likely increases the risk of being mistaken for gamefowl and shot in the face.
