    This week the legislature passed a compromise bill that will accept federal Medicaid money to provide coverage for everyone up to 138% of poverty as the stipulated by the ACA. Those up to 100% of poverty will get coverage through the state employees' health insurance system. Those from 101 to 138% of poverty will get coverage through the exchange. This is subject to a waiver from the feds. This is a gift to the private insurance industry, but it's a lot better than what the Gov. and House Republicans initially proposed.

    I agree with the point of this diary. If IA Republicans had blocked Medicaid expansion, it probably would have hurt them politically. Some of them may have realized this, and came up with a face-saving way to do the right thing.
