Telling that to me is one thing but tell it to my Brazilian partner of 6 years. He doesn't sleep at night for fear of break-ins. In the last year, he's been robbed at gun point 3 times. He's outgrown his journalistic job in Rio, and feels low that life is ending for him. Also, he lives in an upscale neighborhood, drives a MB, and has graduted college with a Masters. YET, we've been waiting for a path to citizenship that will actually be honored by the USA. The sell-out is that Dems didn't even fight for us. They caved into threats by no less than Miss Lyndsey Graham! If you don't think a closeted homophobe who controls what the Dems SHOULD DO is not a sell-out, then I can't even begin to convince you. This is a horrible time for me and my partner, having it be another chalk up to politics is an even worse slap in the face of uncompassionate enablers.

    •  You do not address any of the policy consideration (0+ / 0-)

s, kos makes in this diary. And what has the robbing to do with this legislation? You think with your emotions - never a good strategy.

He who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

So my heart filled with love is not important to you and heartless thought should rule my thinking? Wondering each day if my partner will be murdered before the party and politicians I have supported through the years don't even fight for us before they cave to the homophobic demands of the right? Are you homophobic? I'm sensing it. I've felt safe here but now I'm wondering. Because I think if you were in my shoes, you'd be thinking pretty much the same thing: Will reform recognize and support our equality in time for us to live a life with each other?

      •  I should HR you for this. (0+ / 0-)

I'm sure your homophobia has taught you that gay men are just too "emotional" to think rationally, but you need to recognize that for the bigoted stereotype that it is.
