  •  He was an 'acting president' for 2 terms. (4+ / 0-)

It was the best role of his life, and as far as I was concerned, he was the perfect puppet. The treason he pulled in 10/80 to keep the hostages in Iraq's hold rather than let Carter's diplomatically achieved agreement succeed, will hopefully lead the horrible list of his corruption.

Especially for ensuring that Carter's foresight on energy and the environment would languish, be ridiculed, and forestall action until irreversible changes had occurred.

As tempting as it is to hope certain presidential libraries could be torn down, I think it serves future generations much better for the 'revised' libraries to remain learning centers on how nations bring about their own collapse.

    •  I've been "apologising" to President Carter for a (5+ / 0-)

long time, now.  At the time, I wasn't too impressed with him, but as time has gone by (in fairness to myself, it didn't take long) I've become one of his biggest admirers.

Not only was he a good and decent President, he was and is a good and decent Man.  He's done more for the world around him than the others put together.

Sadly, some people still think he wasn't a good President, and mock him for his "lefty" ways.  I am now his champion when that garbage starts.

And you are spot on about those libraries.

We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
