        the way the world works. I think exceptions are made. If you don't want to make an exception, explain later if you have to, and deal with it like a grownup, then you can hide behind a zero tolerance policy. But I fail to believe that every incident that could fall under this policy is pursued the same way this one was.

          and more than a few of them are school administrators. They see their job as inculcating Respect for Authority -- starting, of course, with their own Authority.

          Opening up future opportunities for smart kids is the last thing they want: they want to punish them.

          People like that shouldn't be involved with kids at all - neither as parents, nor as educators. But they are all too common in both of those of those roles.
