    but even on the rare occasions they did use it, as with Kerry's attempt to filibuster Sam Alito, they provided a tepid effort without wholehearted support from the caucus. And, in fact, they did use it almost exclusively for nominations rather than for legislation.

    I'm just saying there's no point in pretending that the Democrats are going to use the power of the filibuster to hold the line against some insane Republican legislative overreach. They didn't before, and they won't the next time they're in the minority, unless something about the Democratic caucus changes a lot.
