...yes you can't get many things today...primarily due to drug making.

They have curtailed the ability to even buy a beaker. People have started to collect glass jars as those are to be gotten rid of as well in time...due to drug making.

There is even talk about making turpentine, mineral spirits, naptha and acetone illegal...due to drug making.

As any organic chemist knows, you can make anything from a substance that has a benzene ring in it.

They've already made match sticks illegal (red phosphorous), lye illegal (NaOH) and butane very hard to find where I live...due to drug making.

The simple chemistry sets we could buy as kids are totally illegal today (can't get any good chemicals any more).

I agree with you, the world has changed and not for the better in a lot of ways.

And what has all this disallowing done? NOTHING other than make better chemists. The mom-and-pop low level meth makers are out of business. The mid-level organic chemists are doing fine. The Mexican Drug Cartels are thrilled by the US crackdown.

What we now have, at least in California, is more meth than ever and of much better quality.

But, I can't buy match sticks anymore...or get real almond  extract...or get lye...or get pseudoephidrine...because you know...due to drug making...

Ignorance is bliss only for the ignorant. The rest of us must suffer the consequences.
