Before I-5 was finished, back in the late 60's, it used to take a long time to drive up from Portland to Seattle because of having to transition back and forth from old hiway 99 sections to the new I5 sections as they finished them. Eventually it boiled down to two traffic lights on I5 in Washington; one in Olympia and one in the northern section up around Mount Vernon. Getting back to Seattle on a Sunday afternoon after a weekend caving around Mt. Adams or Mt. St Helens would usually take an hour or two to get through the Olympia light.

Even with two bypass roads around this it's going to take forever.
