  •  Oh, and one more thing (5+ / 0-)

Kos does not hand-pick ads.  Its a service that supplies the content.

I don't know how long you've been on this site, but you may notice that any major flame war between members is referred to as "Pie".  This is a short-hand reference to the original "pie fight" in June of 2005 that dominated this site for a while and resulted with some people leaving, some people de-lurking, Kos issuing statements, etc...

...and the reason its called "pie" is all because of an ad for the TBS show "The Real Gilligan's Island" called "pie fight" that used some questionable images of the two main female characters.

We don't do ad fights anymore.

    •  I'm not sure how the ads are chosen. (1+ / 0-)

At times, it seems like some malevolent force is at work. Since  12 14, the prevalence of gun ads has gone through the roof. Or maybe that's just the ones I see. Often, they seem to follow my keyword/queries.
I had never heard of spanx until someone mentioned them in a comment. I googled it and have had a nearly constant presence of spanx banners and web-ads since.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

    •  What a poor excuse (0+ / 0-)

If DK is just another rich corporation, not willing to block such ads no matter how much work that takes, we should know this. Google is highly suspicious in nature, to put it mildly. If this is Google's fault, get rid of Google ads.
