    too short, though we have a funny little microclimate in one part of the garden where they thrive. I buy starts from our co-op and transplant them when the soil gets warm enough for them, which is generally about now. Most years we can eat all we want fresh and still freeze enough to last until spring.

    We prefer the milder ones; purple and red bells, anaheim, and the little sweet hungarian globes. The odd thing is that the location is around the rose bushes. I rather enjoy mixing veg and ornamental plants through the garden.

    I came for the politics and stayed for the science.
