    according to the Washington Post (which ran an article today that seemed to me unusually favorable, considering the actual facts on the guy). He was unsuccessful as a lawyer.
    The divinity part of it appears to be self-conferred. Jackson has a couple of store-front churches in strip malls and started to call himself a "bishop" several years ago.
    No church hierarchy or divinity school appointed or consecrated him to the position.
    The religious end of the biz brings in about $15,000 annually, again according to the Post.
    This mainstream Lutheran always finds it amazing that people set up their own churches, and appoint themselves God's spokesperson, without benefit of any structured study of the scriptures, Biblical exegesis, or even Christian tradition.
    What they feel and think is exactly what God wants. No question.
