    I've friends who work there. It is a vanity project, no doubt about it, but so are many museums that become beloved community anchors. The museum itself is adhering to all of the practices a good museum should, they're working really quite hard on public programs, and they have the funding to help develop new technology tools that benefit other museums.

      Of course, Bentonville has a population of 35,000 compared to NY City's 7 million. And Arkansas is about as accessible and relevant as a cultural destination as Wyoming or Iowa.

      Nothing against Arkansas, but it's as if a billionaire heiress bought the Mona Lisa (and hundreds of other cultural treasures) and moved them all to a new museum in rural Lithuania.
