  •  If that 17 year old was a jag... (4+ / 0-)

... off who wouldn't stop shtooping my son/daughter after I had requested they do so ... yep, they're guilty of statuatory rape and it's my perogative to decide if the law should be enforced.

BTW, when I was 20 in college I picked up an adorable girl in a summer-semester Spanish class.  We went out and I go the idea that she had never had a mixed drink before so I asked and sure enough she was "almost sixteen".   Now, I was all hormones and had the ethics of a Hun but I knew better.  I left her with a requested, concentual hick to show her friends and a warning not to go out with college guys at 15.   I can ask that level of maturity from my 15 year old son and I would demand it from anyone dating him.

You are not the controlling authority. If can ask the person to back off, that his/her actions can be legal with your objections not withstanding.

Again, no. It's the state's prerogative. It's up to the police, the DA, the judges, and the jury. Anything else is vigilante justice.
