    my kids were both lifeguards when they were teens, and my daughter sends that piece to everyone she knows.

    When she taught in inner-city Baltimore, she arranged for her first grade kids to learn to swim at the local high school pool.
    Kids will always be drawn to water on hot summer days, and too many of them have no idea how to get out of trouble- especially city kids who have limited or no access to swim lessons.

      City kids especially, but everyone. Because even those of us raised around the water still don't know it all without training.

      I read on the Jersey Journal online last year about a kid from North Bergen or Union City drowning in a pond or lake and another kid from there, drowning in the ocean down in South Jersey.

      This is when I originally wrote this diary. I updated it because young people drowning concerns me  With a little education it wouldn't happen.
