I have been looking at the mentions of the Meshwesh and other of the Nine Bows in the Merneptah stele.

Its kind of interesting that the Meshwesh were the tribe that raised the Apis bulls but were still seen as Libyans and foreigners and may have been part of the Hyksos coming into Pe Buto from Cyene.

They seem to have worn a long side curl like orthodox jews and on the Merneptah stele its evident they were in the midst of a famine and raiding cities in the delta to survive. Merneptah fed them and they laid down their arms.

The tribes and towns mentioned on the stele are all parts of the Nine Bows, Libyans, Hyksos, the Mitanni, Hatti and Assyria, The Sea People to include the Peleset and Tjeker, the Meshwesh, Tjhenu, Kana, Khete, Weshesh, Danoi, Sherden, Sheklesh, Lukka, Tursha and Akawasha.

Ok thats more than nine but in Egyptian three is plural and nine the plural of plurals.

On the Merneptah stele of those tribes the ones called out by name to include Hatti and Canaan all were engaged with Egypt in the delta. There is no mention of Ashkelon, Gezer, Yenoam or Israel.
