    comment. I think the primary goal has always been maximizing shareholder wealth.... they can just get away with more now than they used to be able to because of...

    fall of union power
    decades of erosion of regulatory law

      valuing money above all else so creating personal wealth can certainly be deemed laudable to corporate decision makers. Not to mention, those decision makers, typically own vast numbers of shares, so of course they hold making themselves richer priority number one.
