You got me there.  I just want to know what makes Bob Schieffer tick.

    •  I have a feeling (0+ / 0-)

The CBS dorks wrote the comments for Schieffer to read.  Didn't think you (or anybody else) would  know but a comment like this sounds like it came from the top.

      •  Yeah but... (0+ / 0-)

How can Bob Schieffer, a veteran of more than 30 years of journalism and news casting, really sit up there as an anchor on CBS and say crap like this?

Is he going to lose his job if he doesn't?  What happened in the course of 30 years in the field of journalism that has made Schieffer become lame?

Oh wait...  CBS has become more corporate.  I understand.

The script he'd be out of a job and I guess he needs the money.  For once I'd like to see one of those so called commentators like Schieffer or CNN or even FOX, take their script and crumble it up and say what they truly believe that would cause them to lose their jobs.  They maybe out of work, but at least they'd be able to hold their head up high.

          •  Well.... (0+ / 0-)

Holding your 'head up high' (and sticking to and voicing your principles), doesn't count for much when you can't meet your bills, have your home fore-closed and are waiting in the soup kitchen line.  Principles/integrity are vitally important, but are sadly lacking in today's businesses, because there's ALWAYS someone standing in the wings who has no principles/values/integrity ready to gobble up your job should you get a jittery case of integrity-itis.  I understand that.
But, I have no respect or patience for (and don't watch/listen to) these news-readers masquerading as journalists.  If they don't agree with what they read, and want their principles/integrity to remain in tact, then perhaps they should look for another venue that matches their real values.
If they continue to mouth off the crap their corporate owners want to be reported, then they're as bad (or worse than) the corporations.  And should be dis-regarded merely as corporate mouthpieces with no integrity.
And yes, that means you, Bob Shieffer.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose....AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!

        •  Bob learned to read (0+ / 0-)

with his first job at the Greyhound bus station in Waco, TX. reading the arrivals and departures.  He later earned noteriety from being the only one left at the Ft Worth Star Telegram (jr reporter) on the day President Kennedy was assassinated.

Marina Oswald called the paper wanting a ride to Dallas after hearing about the assassination, and young Bob drove her over there thereby aquiring his creds.

He later married into an old money Ft Worth family and I doubt he needs the on air gig.
