  •  The laws are written and passed by our (9+ / 0-)

    legislators. That governors and presidents sign them merely signals an agreement to comply. Some legislators are rather cavalier about the laws they pass, assuming, pehaps, that the judges will straighten them out. They don't.
    Our judicial system suffers from a lack of citizen attention. That there has been a persistent effort to manage and manipulate and virtually eliminate juries doesn't help. The bottom line is that most law-abiding citizens have no idea what horrors are being perpetrated in their name. Nor do they realize that since compliance is the main objective, those individuals who are best at pretending to be compliant at the right time, are the most likely to be returned to the streets to perpetrate more real crimes.
    Innocent people are often the least compliant.

    We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
