ignore them both?  Seriously, these groups thrive on publicity -- even negative publicity like this diary.

The most damaging thing you can do to them is to ignore them completely.

    •  I wouldn't lump them together. (1+ / 0-)

Members of the KKK have been, and I'm sure still are, involved in the commission of numerous crimes, including murders and assaults.
The WBC folks just test our commitment to the 1st Amendment.

The best thing to do is to make fun of them.  Besides, how many times in your life can you say that you agree with a Klansman?

It's too ridiculous to ignore. IMHO

      •  That they should be covered with a white sheet (0+ / 0-)

        like a corpse ?
That they should hide under the big white dunce cap
because they have lost all face ?
That what they are doing is so wrong that they need to hide ?
You can agree with them plenty of times .

I hear this all the time "if we just ignore them it will destroy them" line against radical organizations. But the fact is that right wing militia movement gained its following because the rest of us ignored "men playing army" for too long. The Sovereign Citizen movement which appears to spur a cop shooting on a more and more regular basis was ignored. And initially Hitler and the Nazis were ignored.

Ignoring evil has never been a successful strategy to make evil go away.
